Training Coordinator Profile

Marlene V. Obermeyer RN, MA

Marlene is a cross-cultural trainer and curriculum designer for cultural competency programs and professional medical interpreter training.
A registered nurse with over thirty years of hands-on bedside nursing, she founded Culture Advantage LC and promotes medical interpreting through her work with the International Medical Interpreters Association. She designed and presented the first IMIA Medical Terminology Bootcamp, an 8 hour workshop that now tours around the US.

Marlene has trained for multinational clients as diverse as Sprint and Cargill, as well as for local efforts in the Midwest and across the country. Originally from the Philippines, she completed her nursing education in the US and received her Master's in Liberal Studies from Wichita State University in Communications, Anthropology, and International Business.
