On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization announced that the Covid-19 virus is now a pandemic. A pandemic is a worldwide spread of a new disease. This means that the disease has spread over several countries and continents and has affected a lot of people.
Medical interpreters, especially freelance interpreters who are not staff members of a healthcare organization are at high risk for contacting any disease especially the Covid-19 infection. First of all, they go to different facilities, they see different patients in different communities, and they do not have the advantage of yearly training and preparation for infectious diseases that healthcare staff receive. This course is designed for freelance medical interpreters to provide them with information to protect themselves, their families, and their community.
This is an online course to allow access for interpreters at their own time and convenience. The main lecture on Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and different medical precautions for infectious diseases is a live webinar that is recorded and is part of the 2-Hour online course.
The webinar is recorded and is a part of the 2-Hour Course so you can still take course after the Sunday webinar on March 15.
Washington interpreters: The course is now approved by Washington State DSHS!
